Munich DJ - DJames

Who is DJames?:

DJames is a Munich DJ - originally from the UK, he’s been living in Munich, Germany for the lion’s share of his life. DJames works in the aerospace industry. Aircraft and the heavens hold great fascination for DJames. Music is one of his life guides.

DJames Life Philosophy:

Make the most of it, NOW!

DJames Musical Background

DJames had an upbringing in classical music, playing the Violin, Viola and Piano and studying the works of some of the great composers whilst studying Ordinary and Advanced Level Music. DJames got his first decks and a mixer at the age of 16.

DJames was strongly influenced by Electronic Dance Music (EDM) in the early eighties: Kraftwerk, Soft Cell, Human League, Depeche Mode… EDM continues to shape DJames DJ sets and remains close to his heart.

DJames studied in Reutlingen, Germany, experiencing Italo Disco, and in London, the big UK city (or collection of villages) – those were some of the happiest clubbing days of his life!

DJames started his aerospace career in Munich where he happily remains to this day.

The old Munich airport (Riem) became a party zone in 1992, dedicated to Electronic Dance Music. Wonderful days which kindled dreams deep inside!

A few years ago DJames rediscovered mixing, this time with state of the art equipment. Although DJames feels most at home playing modern Electronic Dance Music, he rather likes taking a trip down memory lane to rediscover those gems of the Eighties!

Notebook, CD or Vinyl?

This question stirs emotions! For DJames the possibilities of of a notebook are far greater than record decks (you don’t have to beatmatch with a notebook, you have fully synchronised effects, loops, cue points, key lock etc. in the digital world), and, therefore, analogue DJ’ing is more challenging ;-) but DJames prefers to work with vinyl – “It sounds better, looks better and it’s the real thing!”. Notebooks and mp3s lack soul…
